Nehemiah Byers, of Amityville, was taken into custody Tuesday night, Jan. 27, after allegedly robbing businesses in Copiague, Amityville, and Farmingdale while displaying what appeared to be a handgun, Suffolk County Police said.
Byers was arrested on Broadway in Amityville at about 9:48 p.m. Wednesday by First Precinct Anti-Crime officers, shortly after a robbery at a Farmingdale business, police said.

A Mahwah man was arrested after a dangerous series of events unfolded on Route 287 on Friday afternoon, Jan. 2, police said.
At about 12:30 p.m., Mahwah Police Officer Gino Perrelli was conducting a motor vehicle stop on Route 287 north when an unrelated vehicle pulled onto the shoulder ahead of the stop, Capt.
